Zoo Trip
We invested some Fun Money in zoo passes this summer. W-o-w was it worth it. We've certainly recouped our cost and had a great time. I love going at off times and just letting the kids explore and appreciate the exhibits at their own pace. We often only see a few animals, but that seems just about right for my little tikes.
A few notes/captions, I'm afraid you'll have to hunt & find the corresponding photos. We spent most of our time this day at the Farm. Theo loved the barn owls. Ali was THRILLED to see a windmill just like she saw in a Barney video (Berney, as she insists it's pronounced). We own just one, thanks to my thoughtful friends back at Emmons (you guys are awesome), and Ali and Theo just eat it up. We also got to see the white & pink bunny on the carousel. Long sweet sweet story of how Ali rrrrreaaallllllllllly wanted to ride him last time, but tried to be really brave and good-hearted about another girl riding it. She hardly mentioned the issue at the time, but soon it was clear, she was smitten with this bunny. No whining or complaints, but after waking up from a nap she weeped something about, "Next time, next time, Little Bunny, ...if the other girl is not riding you..., I'll ride you." We figured we'd at least get a picture with him. Then there's Theo's love affair with rocks. Dude. The kid LOVES rocks. It's super cute. I love how the littlest plainest things bring him the greatest joy. Thankfully our zoos have great rock paths. Let us know if you want to come, next time! We have extra passes. :)
