Are You Sleeping?

Ali had become a champ at sleeping. Before three months of age she pulled consistently 10 or 11 hour night stretches. Then there was our nearly three week Christmas trip two time zones away. Ali lost her stride.
So she woke this a.m. at 6:30, a perfectly good wake up time. But her bleary eyed mom, from a night of two wakings, tried to hush her with a pacifier.
She sweetly closed her eyes, turned her head & submitted in the darkness. I then checked the time and realized we really should both get up. I whispered, "Are you sleeping?" She eagerly turned her head, spit out her sucker, and gave me a huge smile!
